How Long Does to Plant U.S. Corn Crop?

The month of April historically marks the beginning of planting season for corn across the Midwest.  Thus far in 2022, mother nature has provided cooler than normal temperatures accompanied by higher moisture levels, a combination that doesn't bode well for field operations.  With delays seeming likely, the University of Illinois took an in depth look at how long it takes for the U.S. corn crop to get planted based on the USDA's weekly Crop Progress repot from 1980-2021.  Their results found it takes approximately two weeks to get the corn crop planted based on maximum daily rates of planting progress.
